Your help is desperately needed! Won't you please give us a hand with our latest rescued Yorkies? AUGUST 2010 UPDATE FROM THE BOARD Earlier this year United Yorkie Rescue had an audit conducted by an agent of the the Internal Revenue Service based in Cleveland, Ohio for tax year 2007. We have just received our letter of confirmation that United Yorkie Rescue "continues to qualify for exemption from Federal income tax. Accordingly, we have accepted your return(s) as filed." A copy of this letter will be in our online file library and available to the public upon request. We would like to thank the IRS for their thorough examination of our records, and all our members for getting the necessary information to the proper Board member. Record keeping may seem tedious but it has made the difference in maintaining our exempt status so we can continue to help our beloved Yorkshire Terriers. UYR is in need of foster homes. We have many more requests for surrender than we can handle. If you would like to become a UYR foster person, please, fill out a "Volunteer Application." UYR could not continue to rescue Yorkies in need without the help of our donors. To date we have rescued: 1602 Yorkies and Yorkie mixes. Our vetting costs to date are: $654,600.33!! Any amount is truly needed and appreciated. A $5.00 donation allows us to purchase Heartworm prevention for a month for a rescue. For $25.00 we can rescue a Yorkie from a shelter that would otherwise be put to sleep. If you need to surrender your Yorkie or mix, please, use this link "Request To Surrender Form" to contact to contact a UYR representative. Please complete this form in its entirety, including a photo if possible. A representative will be in contact with you as soon as possible to make arrangements or refer you to another rescue if we do not have members in your area. FOREVER OURS - 04/19/2010
Our newest Forever Ours guy is Willie. He just needs a familiar place to hang around. His sight and age make him unadoptable but not unlovable. He will remain with Terrie for the rest of his life. Total cost of vetting to date for our 7 Forever Ours Yorkies is: $19,589.24!! I am happy to say that most of these costs have been covered by donations for the special little ones. Donations for each one are still needed to have money available for their continuing care needs. We are always looking for people who would be interested in being a 'Sponsor' to one or more of our Forever Ours Yorkies! As a sponsor you will become a cherished person in this dog's life. You would receive communications about your sponsored pup and your name would appear in their story on the Forever Ours page. We have had many requests for a way to make a donation to UYR in lieu of gifts for family and friends on birthdays and other special occasions.
