Adoption Process and Conditions Please read the following carefully: IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SCAMS: UNITED YORKIE RESCUE NEVER ADVERTISES FOSTER DOGS ON CRAIGS LIST OR OTHER LOCAL SITES WITH ITEMS FOR SALE. WE ONLY DISPLAY OUR FOSTER DOGS ON OUR OWN WEBSITE, PETFINDER AND ADOPT-A-PET. DO NOT SEND MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION TO ANYONE PURPORTING TO HAVE A FOSTER DOG. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE LEGITIMACY OF A FOSTER DOG FOR ADOPTION, EMAIL THE FOSTER PARENT LISTED ON THE DOG'S BIO AT WWW.UYR.US. Completing an online application request is the first step in the adoption process. The placement process includes Personal and Vet Reference checks, and a home visit. The home visit may include bringing the foster dog to interact with you, your family, and any other pets. Your responses and your home situation will be evaluated in relation to those of other applicants and will take into consideration the foster dog's needs in a forever home. If you are approved, there will be an adoption agreement that you will sign at the time ownership is transferred and you will pay an adoption fee. In order to adopt a UYR foster dog, you must be over the age of 25 and financially able to provide for a dog's vetting and care. Adoption fees for our foster dogs are set based on the age, health, conformity to breed standard, and behavior/needs of the dog. Adoption fees are not negotiable; the adoption fee rarely covers the costs of vetting and rehabilitating the foster dog. Adoption fees are not considered donations and therefore are not tax deductible. Out-of-State AdoptionsOut-of-state or long distance adoptions may be permitted in some situations at the discretion of the foster home and team leader. Please note that UYR does not ship dogs via air cargo. Adopters are responsible for traveling to the foster dog's home, either by car or plane, to pick up the dog. Some airlines permit dogs to travel with an individual in the cabin as carry-on baggage. You will need to purchase a pet ticket and pay for a health certificate if required by the airline or state. All these expenses are above and beyond the adoption fee. Before completing the online adoption application for a dog located outside your state of residence, please email the foster home to determine if an out-of-state adoption would be considered. If you understand and agree to the conditions listed above, have confirmed that the dog of interest is located near to you, and you wish to proceed with your application, please click here to be redirected to our online adoption application. |
