Bear and Benny and their new mom and dad. We are a family now.

Benny
9-16-20 Benny and his best friend and brother Bear were adopted together today. Could life get any better for these two young guys, both still puppies. Their first mom had to care for her mother who lived out of the county and because of the way the world is now with the Covid-19 virus she was unable to get back home. She knew her babies had to find forever homes and the best way to find that perfect home was to surrender them to a rescue who would do just that for them, and we did. These two guys just love each other and now they have a stay at home mom, a fenced yard, and so much love. They will even get to travel around with their new mom and dad in their motor home. Benny and Bear will get to be together forever in their perfect forever home. Lucky, lucky boys. Happy Tails to our adorable puppies Benny and Bear.

Sassy loves her new mom.
|
Sassy
9/12/20 Sassy was adopted today. Sassy is an adorable, sweet, and loving 13-month-old puppy who was surrendered by her former owners due to a change in their living environment. Sassy needed a home with someone who could be home with her more often so that a puppy with all that energy had more time to run and play as a puppy should. She also needed someone who had more time to work with Sassy on her puppy manners. Today Sassy got everything she needed. A stay a home mom and a fur brother to play with her all day. She was very excited to meet her new fur brother Brody as well as her new mommy and daddy. Soon she will have a fenced backyard. She is looking forward to playing with Brody and going for walks together. She shared lots of kisses with her new mommy and daddy. She has already settled in to her new home and loves to her new family. There will be lots of walks, snuggles, and fun every day. Hooray for Sassy. Her best times are ahead for years and years.

Lucky
09/01/20Lucky had been adopted, and his new mommy is so happy. I think he is pretty happy, too: although, he gave me that tear jerking look when I walked away and left him in the arms of his new mommy.

Nothing but lots of love ahead for Dakota and her forever mommy.
|
Dakota
8/29/20
Dakota was adopted today. Dakota was picked up as a stray by animal control and was in pretty bad shape. She had bilateral ear infections, was infested with fleas, and was very dirty and matted. It was obvious that she had been neglected for a long time. As if that wasn't enough for this precious little girl, her eyes had mature cataracts and corneal edema, and upon further examination, it was discovered that she had glaucoma in both eyes. Glaucoma causes pain that is more severe in dogs than in humans, so she most likely has been in pain for a long time. She was already non-visual in both eyes, so the decision was made to enucleate both of her eyes to alleviate the pain.
No one ever showed up at the shelter to pick up this precious little girl. When UYR was called about Dakota, it wasn't hard to make the decision to bring her into our Foster Care Program. Even though she is not a Yorkie she needed us and we were going to be there for her. Dakota bad ear infections took weeks to finally heal. This sweet girl who loved everyone and who probably spent a while blind and in pain went to her forever home and is ready to start living her best life ever. Her mom knows all about special needs dogs, but wait until she sees that this special needs pup is nothing but the sweetest love bug whose blindness has never stopped her from doing anything. There is a lot of love, cuddling, and kisses for Dakota and her forever mommy just ahead.

Bear TX
8-29-20 Bear has been adopted! He will be joining an 11 year old Shih-Tzu named Jack with his new parents to begin his best life. He will be getting all the attention he deserves with someone home all time along with a cool sibling to share the days adventures. His new forever home is familiar with pups that need extra care and loving as they were once fosters for another rescue. Bear will spend his days lounging around, evenings on walks and in the yard playing with the neighborhood dogs, and even boat rides when the weather is nice. He will be the envy of all the other dogs he meets. Bear was a special soul in need of special parents and he hit the jackpot! Happy Tails Bear! You will be sorely missed.

I have a new mom and dad and we are heading home. Happy days to me, Daisy

Daisy Mae
8/22/20 Daisy Mae was adopted today. Today Daisy Mae went to her forever home. She had fun in her foster home playing with the other young dog in the house and running around outside with him. But she needed a home to call her forever after home and she found it today. Her new mom and dad know that Daisy will need to stay on her special food and they know she needs to have lots of play time with them and with her new doggie cousin who will come over often to visit. Daisy has a beautiful fenced backyard to run around in and to play some great games of fetch and chase. She has a nice house with doggie beds and toys. Her new mommy and daddy are even excited to have Daisy share their bed with them when she wants to. This sweet girl who will give then kisses and more kisses has found her happily ever after and we are so happy for her.

Kendra
8-12-20 Darling Kendra (Kenzie) was adopted today by her most wonderful mom. This sweet girl who started life as a puppy mill mommy, whose only job it was to make beautiful puppies never felt the grass or saw the sun until she was rescued by United Yorkie Rescue. When she came to us she was so afraid of people that it took her weeks and weeks just to come near her foster mom. She wouldn't even take a treat from them. She spent a lot of time curled up in her puppy pen just watching everything that was going on. After months of showing Kendra patience, love, kindness, and caring she learned very slowly that people can be trusted. In the last few weeks Kendra was comfortable sitting next to her foster parents and even being on their laps. Kendra was finally ready for her forever home. Today she found that wonderful forever home and the best mom Kenzie could want. She will be the only dog in her mom's life and will get so much attention and love and never ever will she be put into a cage alone and uncared for. She even has a fenced yard to walk around in to feel of the grass on her little feet. Kendra went from the worst conditions ever, living in a cage, matted, and living in the utmost filth and neglect, to a wonderful loving home. She will always have a soft bed, wonderful food, good care, and never again will she know anything but the kindness and warmth of loving arms. It took a while for Kendra to be ready for her forever home, but that's okay. Kendra is home now and she is home forever. Happy Tails, sweet Kendra. We are so happy for you.

Gabby
8/6/20. Gabby was adopted today. Sweet little Gabby was so very sad and confused after losing her Mommy to complications from COVID. She also was in so much pain from her infected mouth. Life wasn't looking so good. While in her foster home Gabby got the care she need and became a very happy and healthy pup. All that was missing for little Gabby was her forever family. Today that happened. Gabby found her Furever home! Her new mommy and daddy are retired and have the time to devote to giving Gabby the love and cherishing she deserves in her senior years. She even has a fur sister too. Her new family said "UYR is never getting her back!" Music to Gabby's ears. Congratulations Gabby!

Moe
7-31-20 Moe the Maltese was adopted today. Five-year-old Moe was surrendered to an animal shelter for euthanasia by the owners that have had him since he was a puppy. Moe nipped at a 3-year old child in the home, and the parents decided that the penalty for that was to have him put to sleep. The shelter offered assistance with behavior modification training, but the owner said that they did not have the time for that and left him in the shelter alone and scared. The shelter reached out to United Yorkie Rescue to see if we would take Moe. Of course, we would. This adorable little guy needed his second chance. While in his foster home some things about Moe became obvious. Moe appeared to be a dog that had sadly suffered an abusive or neglectful past. He wants to be with his people very much, but he appears to have become distrustful and protective of himself due to his prior abuse at the hands of people. Moe is still initially wary of most humans, but not unfriendly. He needs time to get to know any new people in his life. At first his foster parents discovered he may growl or even attempt to bite if a person tries to move at a faster pace than Moe is comfortable with. Moe let them know that he will tolerate other dogs but does not want to play with them. His foster parents knew what Moe needed in his forever home. He needed a forever home where he is only dog. He needed someone who is home most of the time, he needed a little fenced area so that if he doesnt want to see other dogs he doesn't have to. More than anything Moe needed a person who understood that he needed time to trust, time to settle into his new home, and time to give his person the love that was in him. Today that happened for Moe. He got it all and he is ready to begin his new life. Happy Tails, Moe. Its happy days every day waiting for you from now on.

Jack
7-25-20 Jack and his sister Bella were adopted today. They will be together forever. Jack and Bella were sadly surrendered when their owner could no longer care for them. Their former owner's life changed and his new circumstances Jack and Bella were left alone for hours and hours a day. He knew they needed a better life for themselves. They needed a family who would care for them, love them, and give them the time and attention they needed. United Yorkie Rescue told their owner that we would make sure that Jack and Bella found a wonderful home. After a few weeks in their foster home their foster mom found that perfect home. As soon as their foster mom's car turned onto the street where their furever home was, the two sleeping dogs woke up and got very excited. The moment the front door opened, and they saw their new mom and dad they rushed right to them. Jack and Bella knew they were home for good. Their new mom and dad will be home with them all day long. They have a wonderful fenced yard and a sunny Lanai to hang out in with their mom and dad. Best of all they are together forever. Jack and Bella are the only pups in the home and they will get so much attention and so much love. Jack and Bella together forever. Happy Tails to them.

Stitch
7-20-20 Stitch was adopted today. Could his new mom and dads smiles be any bigger, and could Stitch be any luckier? This little 6-year-old, 5.5-pound fellow was brought to the shelter to be euthanized. What??!! This guy was healthy, but his family said he did things they couldn't get him to stop doing, and they were done with him. The shelter refused to euthanize an otherwise healthy dog and instead took him in, determined to find a rescue to take this sweet fellow. The shelter saw none of those behaviors his former owners said he engaged in and the call went out to rescues to please fine him a forever home. United Yorkie Rescue could not let this little boy sit in the shelter one more day. He was rescued and went to live with his foster mom. His foster mom saw a wonderful, happy, sweet guy who loved to give everyone lots and lots of puppy kisses. He was happy in his foster home, but he wanted a family to give him all the attention and love he never received before. He needed someone home with him most of the time to continue to work on his house-training manners, but mostly just to be with him and assure Stitch his life was worth saving. Today Stitch went to his perfect forever home. His new mom is so excited about having Stitch in her life she couldn't stop smiling at him. Stitch will be the new love of their lives. He will be so loved and so cared for every day. He now will get to have all the attention and will never want for anything in his life ever again. We are so happy for little Stitch. Happy Tails to you!

07/04/2020: Ringo Starr, renamed Banjo in his new home, has found his Furever home! Banjo was found as a stray and, after having some extensive dental work done and spending a couple of weeks being lovingly cared for and healed, this sweet little boy was quickly ready for the next step of the rest of his life! He is looking forward to golf cart rides, sunsets, walks in the park and lots of snuggling. Oh! He said don't forget to mention that he inherited a big brother, Shadow, another UYR dog so he has a sibling already! Congratulations on your new life, Banjo!

Brodie and Toby love their new mom and dad so much
|
TobyKeith
7/3/20 TobyKeith and his foster brother and best friend in the world Brodie were adopted together today.
TobyKeith, the little Chorkie puppy, came to United Yorkie Rescue after being moved around from home to home to home. In fact, when he came to his foster home it was his 5th home in his short 7 months of life. His foster parents promised him one more home and it would be his forever home. He was in his foster home a short time, where for the first time he was able to run around and have the fun a young energetic puppy should have, his foster mom noticed he was holding his right leg up and not using it. A trip to the vet the next day confirmed the worst. His knee was so luxated that it was not going back in. He would have to have surgery to put his knee back into place and to save his leg. A leg not used becomes a leg that will atrophy, and then has to be amputated. And so, Toby the puppy, had his surgery and his 4 weeks of confinement which is so hard on a puppy until the happy day came and he could do what puppies do, once again run around and have fun.
When his foster brother Brodie came to live with them, Toby found his new and best friend in all the world. They became inseparable. They played together and slept together and even managed to sit on their foster mom or dads lap together. Brodie helped Toby with his separation anxiety and Toby helped Brodie to become happy, playful dog again after his almost near death from starvation. Their foster mom and dad knew the best thing for both of them would be to be able to spend the rest of their life together and today that happened.
Toby and Brodie went to their forever home. Their new mom and dad already love them so much. They have a nice big house to run around in with lots of toys and doggie beds just for them. There is a big screened lanai to hang out in and watch the birds and squirrels and check out whatever else is happening in the backyard. They will get to go on nice walks every day and meet up with other friends. Their mom and dad will be home with them all day and the boys will get to go with them wherever and whenever they can. TobyKeith, you have found your final and last home. You and your best buddy Brodie will have a wonderful, happy life together until the end. Happy Tails little guy.

Brodie
7/3/20 Brodie and his foster brother and best buddy were adopted together today.
Brodie came such a sad story. We will never forget the day United Yorkie Rescue received an urgent message from the shelter. The day before they had taken in a severally emaciated dog. He was 4.5 pounds, half the weight he should be. He was full of fleas and could barely lift up his head or walk, he needed rescue immediately. The shelter had done the initial triage. He was vaccinated, given a Capstar to kill the fleas, and fed high protein nutritious meals. What Brodie now needed was a rescue to take him to the vet for further care. And even more he needed to be given high doses of love and kindness.
That day he became a United Yorkie Rescue dog. His foster parents didnt think he would make it through the night, but he did. He had food round the clock and slowly Brodie came back to life. Under the skin and bones was a playful, happy, friendly dog who loves people. He became best friends with the other foster in his foster home and they would play together all day long, inside and out in the backyard.
After weeks of care and food Brodie was at a good weight, he was no longer anemic, and he was ready for his forever home. Except his foster parents knew Brodie was not going to trust people so quickly and the best thing for him and Toby would be to find the perfect family who would be willing to adopt them together. Today that happened. They went to their forever home and their new mom and dad already love them so much. They have a nice big house to run around in with lots of toys and doggie beds just for them. There is nice screened lanai to hang out in and watch the birds and squirrels and check out whatever else is happening in the backyard. They will get to go on nice walks every day and meet up with other friends. His mom and dad will be home with them all day and the boys will get to go with them wherever and whenever they can. Brodie, we are so happy for you. Your will to live was strong, and now your life will be happy and long. Happy Tails sweet Brodie. You and Toby have just started the rest of your life and it will be grand.
