HAPPY TAILS

At United Yorkie Rescue we are blessed with an extraordinary success rate in finding forever homes for our rescued foster dogs. To share this joy we've created this "Happy Tails" page. Happy Tails is devoted to the celebration of these wonderful stories with everyone who loves dogs. We hope that you enjoy these "Tails" as much as we have. Thank you!!

Kieffer and new family
Kieffer

We adore and love Kieffer! He is such a joy and he brings a smile to our faces every day. He loves his big brother Spike, they play and have such a good time together, whether it is in the house or outside. They run and chase each other like they have been with each other forever. With Kieffer, we never have a dull moment. We laugh all the time, as Kieffer is a little instigator....if anyone of us isn't paying attention to him, he nuzzles anyone of us until we do. He loves being the center of attention!

Sephora
Sephora

My beautiful Angel Sephora is doing GREAT. We have had little chats about her new life in DC and she keeps licking my face. LOL I took her on her first vet appointment a couple of weeks ago and she went in with her stroller and EVERYONE just fell in love. She LOVES her long walks (even in the cold), she wears little sweaters and pink jackets and is as happy as can be. I learned very quickly she cannot be without a leash at any time, because she wants to chase every squirrel in sight and so we both get a bit of a workout. LOL She is full of energy. She is not so fond of joggers, but I am getting her more and more socialized and take her with me wherever I can. We truly love each other. People can tell how attached we have become. She loves to be in my arms also. If I put her on the floor, she turns into "Jiminy Cricket" and jumps and jumps until I pick her up again. LOL Going to bed together is wonderful...not so much leaving her for work in the morning, but she has gotten use to the routine quickly and does really well with her Nanny for midday walks. She has brightened up my life and I am so grateful to United Yorkie Rescue for making this happen!

Sawyer
Sawyer

Sawyer was first rescued on 04/01/2011. He was adopted to a loving couple. After 16 months he was surrendered back to UYR. Sawyer became extremely stressed around toddler children, and it hurt the family to see him like this. Sawyer has since been adopted. On 10/19/2013 he went Arizona, to be with his loving "Forever" retired mom and fur brother. He is "living the life" of morning walks and cuddling!

Dooley

Dooley and new mom
Dooley

Little 5 lb Dooley came into UYR right before he was going to be euthanized at the shelter. He was surrendered by his owners, who had probably had him all the 10 years of his life, who said they, "didn't want him anymore". He was subsequently diagnosed with Chronic Bronchitis and once his medications were adjusted, he felt better and loved life. He was the sweetest, most affectionate little boy who loved his person ~ his foster parents adored him.

So did his forever mom who saw him on the computer at her home in Michigan and knew he was the one for her. She flew all the way to Florida to adopt this precious little bundle of joy. This is a testimony to the senior dogs - they still have so much love to give and receive - please don't turn away from them because of their age. We are so glad that his new mommy didn't do that..................

Here's what his new mom Ann said about Dooley shortly after her arrived in Michigan ..................

Well this little man Dooley has proven to be a class one traveler. He didn't whine or bark or get sick at the airports or with the flight. He sat in his carrier and was a little gentleman. He has checked the house out downstairs very well. During the day when he's in the house and not walking around the rooms, he rests by the dryer, so I put one of his beds down there for him. He is already attuned to me; when I'm getting ready to leave the house, he will go to his carrier and wait for me. We are going to a class for house-training. Sure hope it teaches him and me some good steps. He continuous to be a great friend and partner. Yes, he still sleeps with me and wants to sit with me when I sit down in my recliner. We are doing great together. Ann

Bitsy and new family
Bitsy

Hello UYR members,

I am so happy to report that I have a fur ever family now. I have a mommy and daddy that are retired, so we can be together all day most every day. I love kids now and get to play with the grand kids when they come over, I have loved that. While in foster care I lost a little over 3 pounds, so my hips feel a lot better. I found out I have allergies to grain, so now I get the really REALLY good stuff to eat.

Thank you so much for taking me into your foster program, I am so lucky to have been given the time, love and care you provide. My new family is going to keep my foster mommy updated on me, so she can let you know how I am doing.

I AM ADOPTED!

Love, Bitsy in Iowa

Theo and new family
Theodore

Teddy is doing great! He is getting along nicely with his little fur brother, Tucker (another Yorkie) and his big fur sister Annie. We took him to the vet this past weekend and I am happy to report he now weighs 9.1 lbs. Teddy loves to cuddle with his mommy at every opportunity he gets. His mommy showers him with kisses plus he gets belly rubs from his papa.

He has a good appetite, loves to play tug of war with Tucker, and jumps up on the sofa when he needs down time. You may think he is sound asleep but if that doorbell rings oh boy the barking begins. Last week we visited a friend that has a 9 month old Yorkie. Teddy and Kypo had a blast together so we have decided to start a Yorkie play group!

Kristen, thank you so much for your support. You have been there every step of the way. I appreciate how I can just call, text, email and you get right back to me. You are an angel and I feel I am not alone in dealing with his liver condition.

Teddy has brought so much joy and love to my heart and home. I am truly blessed to have him. He stole my heart the minute I set my eyes on his photo and read his bio.

Thank you United Yorkie Rescue for all you do!

Joey (Tiger) and new parents
Tiger

Note from UYR: Tiger was an owner surrender whose owners were no longer able to care for him. (His name has been changed to Joey). He did have some small medical issues, and his adopters were very willing to care for them. Below is an update from his new forever parents:

Joey is very well-behaved and he is an absolute delight to have in our lives. He has been to the vet and everything checked out fine. He follows us all over the house and loves to sit on our laps and be held. He sleeps in bed with us. He likes going on walks and riding in his stroller when he gets tired. Also likes car rides in his car seat.

Thank you so much for facilitating his adoption and for all you do for Yorkies who need to be rescued.

Joel and Jennifer & Joey
